To rent a vehicle with us, you’ll need to be between 25 and 75 years old and have held a valid driver’s licence for at least 12 months. We accept full Australian licences and international ones too, as long as they’re in English or come with a certified translation. Sorry, but learner’s permits and provisional licences aren’t accepted under our rental policy.
What’s Included and What’s Not
Before driving away, you’ll be asked to pay the rental fee plus a refundable security bond. This helps cover any extra costs that might pop up. While most of our renters return vehicles without a hitch, there are a few situations that could result in extra charges.
These may include:
- Driving more kilometres than agreed upon.
- Returning the vehicle in a dirty condition (including strong odours, pet hair, or rubbish left behind).
- Damage to the vehicle (even minor scratches or dents).
Taking care of the vehicle like it’s your own helps keep the process smooth and your final costs down.
Where You Can Drive Your Car Rental
Victoria has plenty of beautiful places to explore—but not all of them are covered under our standard rental agreement. If you’re planning to take the vehicle more than 200 kilometres from the rental location or to remote areas, just give us a heads up. We may need to approve it in writing.
Your Responsibilities as a Renter
When you hire a vehicle from Goodfellows, you’re agreeing to drive safely and responsibly. That means sticking to road rules, only allowing approved drivers behind the wheel, and returning the vehicle in good condition. You’ll also need to cover things like:
- Use the correct fuel and check basic weekly maintenance items (like oil and tyre pressure).
- Take care of the vehicle and report any issues right away.
- Pay for tolls, parking fines, or speeding tickets—these are your responsibility.
